Sweetcorn Fritters and Yoghurt Dip – Gordon Ramsay

Janice Jameson

March 1, 2015

Canned food can be a good store-cupboard staple. These spicy, savoury sweetcorn fritters are a perfect example: a great dish made with store-cupboard ingredients and some fresh herbs.

Can chicken or partridge be used instead?. I worry about these highly
alkaline foods. They should NOT be left unattended, especially for all us
cat lovers. Lovely cakes though Gordon. All sticky and acidic ..mMmm

I’ve seen several times Gordon using natural yoghurt for the dip sauce.
I’ve tasted it and it wasn’t of my liking. Does it really change the flavor
with coriander and other stuff he adds to it?

Followed this exact recipe, except for the sauce. I used Ricotta cheese
and sour cream with the chili, cilantro, and used lemon juice as well as
the zest instead of the lime.

Definitely making this again soon!

Some things I fry in olive oil, but some things not, like eggs, I don’t
want to taste what they are fried in. An in-law uses half canola half olive
oil to fry her pupusas, she wants just a little of the flavor. I like this
recipe, sans cilantro, I would use parsley, I have so much of it this year.
I like the 1/3 batter, 2/3 chunks idea. Today is cornbread day, with
collards, with onion, red and green jalapeños and orange habaneros in the
cornbread, it’s pretty!

I’ve noticed there are a lot of things that Gordon really uses as mainstays
in his dishes. Always uses olive oil. Seasoning is always salt and pepper.
Vegetables are always spring onions, coriander, and chilis, etc. Not bad
things, just an observation.

It’s one of my favourites weekend lunches. First I thought it will be too
hot because of chilli but with sweet corn it makes perfect match. Pure
tasty harmony!

Just made these. Absolutely delicious. Small addition, when putting them
in the pan add a couple slices of butter. Adds a perfect taste to the
fritters and the olive oil in the pan keeps the butter from burning.

I dislike the taste of Coriander. Would I be able to substitute the
coriander for parsley??

In some instances there is nothing wrong with using canned food. These
spicy, savoury sweetcorn fritters are a perfect example: a great dish made
