Locals can’t believe Gordon is a Cook – Gordon Ramsay

Janice Jameson

March 28, 2015

Gordon helps to serve dinner – and gets teased about his chosen profession. From season 2 of Gordon's Great Escape.

For the second series, Gordon goes back on the road doing what he loves most: searching out the best food in the world and testing himself in extreme and demanding situations. This time he's not just taking on one country, his appetite for adventure will take him through four of South East Asia's most exciting culinary destinations: Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia and Vietnam.

It’s nice that he mixes with the locals, and learns their customs.
However, he looks so out-of-place sitting on a stool, or on the floor with
his legs folded awkwardly. He should learn to sit cross-legged on the
floor. He’ll fit in better in more Asian places.

This is why i hate on kitchen nightmares when the owner will say “gordon
knows nothing Chinese food.gordon knows nothing about soul food, indian
food, southern food” He travels the world, cooks in environments we only
watch on tv.

In every episode where Ramsay tries to impress the local cooks by trying to
cook their dish he rages too much. He expects to be awesome at a different
type of cooking when he tries it at the first time. He’s way too arrogant.

Fundamental problem with white people when they make rice is that they
don’t wash it. Nor do they really know the different kind of rice other
than your typical “basamati” or “black rice” or “wild rice” stuff like
that.

It would be amazing if someone shows some videos of ‘hell’s kitchen’ to the
locals when they are guessing what Ramsay do for living.

Quite nice to see these people not having napalm and phosphorus dropped on
them because a much bigger, richer foreign country didn’t agree with their
political system.

I’m glad you like our country’s food! 😀 The Rice Cake it’s called “Bánh
Cuốn” in Vietnamese so if you want to look for it after, go ahead, and
thanks for your how-to-cook videos, they’re really helpful 🙂 I’m a big fan
of you!
Greetings from Vietnam.
