You cant just barge into other countries and tell them what’s right and
what’s wrong based on your western culture… that’s very arrogant and
stupid.. typical white man’s hypocrisy…

They destroyed the world’s whale population and now they banned other
nations for hunting whales ? they sucked all the energy and resources from
all over the world to live in luxury and wealth and they blamed other
nations on destroying their natural habitat ?

disgusting

Either Asians have really sensitive tongues to find a genuine taste in that
soup or they are complete fucking idiots

As an Asian , I can briefly tell you that eating shark fin soup is not only
for the broth’s excellent taste, but also as a sign of status and wealth.
Being able to eat shark fin soup shows you are higher in the world and have
“face”, and have more financial power

Just a question. I just watched the video where he watch how they fish for
the shark fins. And he said it was the worst act of animal cruelty that he
ever seen. Then why does he eat this soup?

It’s a bit strange that I had this strange dream yesterday:

I dreamt of some mad tyrant who dispatched lackeys to kidnap Gordon Ramsey
to make the best food for him, and took precautions by having him cook by
sealing up his mouth to prevent profanities, but in that dream, Gordon
Ramsey simply baked cakes shaped in the form of @(!&#@!)$*&)@# vulgarities
when he delivered the meal to the tyrant.

Lol. Surreal.

Why don’t they have shark farms, if they want fucking shark fins. It’s
disgusting what they do but the only way to stop destruction of ecosystems
or just fucking kill the shits.

Now everyone believe that people cut off shark fin and then throw them back
into ocean? You think that is the only way it comes from? The only issue of
shark is some illegally hunt them in very cruel way. People have rights to
consume animal products in correct way. Then you say “no no, eating shark
fins is meaningless”. Oh really? Then why people cook and eat for the taste
of food? Eating shark fins is not a sin as long as some people are still
using fur and leather products and the ingredients are come from clean
method.

Say what you want about the environmental issue, but I have to side with
the maitre’d. I wouldn’t want a celebrity chef bothering my VIP customers,
no matter how famous he is.

This is just disgusting. I’m glad Gordon Ramsey said it’s tasteless and any
other meat would be fine.

Sharks die in PAIN at the same time DROWN because they cant swim just so an
asshole can have “shark fin soup”out of all fish and animals to make soup
from,a drunkered bastard had to look at how beautiful a shark is,see how
agile it is then think “why not remove its fin and make soup out of
it?”Really! I am atheist but this makes me believe the Devil exists

Absolutely fucking vile and barbaric dish. If you have shark fin soup
you’re a cunt. End of story. (I’m ok with Ramsay trying this though as he
is an avid opponent to the practice)

I am here reading all the comments thinking about Americans drop atomic
bombs to others and cries over killing a bigger fish… How stupid and
ignorant does it take for a country to judge others, and kills people and
put up wars for oil….white trashes

I love the insane comparisons in the comment section between harvesting
shark fins to the meat industry in other countries, namely the US. Or even
worse, comparing war time acts and using them as an excuse to continue the
act of removing fins from sharks.

In the US and other modern countries we have laws protecting animals,
including the treatment of animals that we BREED to consume. Animals that
we buy at grocery stores are killed instantly. There isn’t some magic
potion we use to make it easier to die. We shoot a rod through the
skull/neck severing the brain stem causing instant death. This is governed
by the USDA (in the US) and animal cruelty groups that monitor companies
that perform this, millions of dollars and decades have went into the study
of killing animals as humanly and efficiently as possible. At that point we
consume every single bit of the animal, not wasting any part (literally, we
consume or use every single part). On top of that we breed more to replace
the ones we used for food.

Lets compare that to the shark fin/dolphin/whale harvesting that Asian
countries believe they have a right too. A group of guys jump into a boat,
hunt down the wild animal, spear/net/shoot it, harvest the part they want
and drop the gimped animal back into the wild. Then times that by about
1000 times per day.

Sure, killing other creatures isn’t pretty and everyones entitled to keep
their traditions close to them but at what cost? You are killing the
environment and potentially removing an entire population of animals from
existence. Is it really worth that? Is that really a tradition you want
your culture to associate with in 2015?

Please stop eating shark’s fins, after they cut the fins they just threw
the sharks’ bodies back to the sea then the sharks will eventually die
because they can’t swim anymore, its too sad

oh this is so not true. Im from Taiwan, theres no way you could get shark
fin or any fin soup everywhere. Usually only in fancy resturants. Otherwise
it is hard to get, and shark fin is pretty damn cruel to the shark…

to those who does not know the shark fin is basically starch to give the
texture shark fin soup has and it is also harmful to the human body. The
shark fin can always be replaced be other source of starch

Gordon is just ignorant. On one hand he serves Foie gras in his restaurants
giving status hierarchy of French culture and on the other he ignores to
understand the Chinese social system and goes on teaching the world about
ethics. Double standards and ignorance is the right recipe to make good TV
show. Gordon cooks it pretty well. Even
I enjoy watching this imbecile acting like a monkey in this premier
restaurant. DAMN entertaining.

Westerners ( Americans and British ) are such hypocrites. We are
responsible for such a huge loss in the world’s biodiversity and now that
we have had our turn we suddenly frown on other’s cultures and traditions.
